2015 Corvette Z06 and 2016 Volt Earn Awards at 2015 NAIAS

2015 Corvette Z06 and 2016 Volt Earn Awards at 2015 NAIAS
ST. LOUIS, Miss. - Each year, more than 1,000 Detroit News readers apply to be judges for the Readers' Choice awards at the North American International Auto Show. Of the 1,000 applicants, 100 are chosen to tour the Cobo Center and make note of their most favorite vehicles in the industry. This year the judges certainly have their work cut out for them as they had to mark their top vehicle choices within ten different categories!

Last Tuesday, a special ceremony was held for The Detroit News' Readers' Choice awards and you'll be happy to know that Chevrolet did not walk away empty handed. The 2015 Corvette Z06 and the 2016 Volt both earned awards at the 2015 NAIAS, being name the "Sexiest" and "Most Earth Friendly" vehicles at the show. Between the Corvette's 6.2-liter, supercharged V-8 producing an incredible 650 horsepower and its perfectly sleek lines, its new title as the "Sexiest" vehicle at the 2015 NAIAS shouldn't come as a surprise. The 2016 Volt has stepped up its game making it an easy choice for the judges to name it the "Most Earth Friendly" vehicle, especially since the 2016 Volt is now lighter, more efficient, and has an increased 50-mile electric range!

The 2015 NAIAS isn't the only place you'll find award winning vehicles! Chevrolet Takes Black to the Next Level with Silverado Midnight Edition

Chevrolet Takes Black to the Next Level with Silverado Midnight Edition
ST. LOUIS, Miss. - Chevrolet is taking black to the next level with 2015 Silverado Midnight Edition! The monochrome model appeared today at the National Automobile Association Convention and Expo in San Francisco and will make its official debut at the Chicago Auto Show on February 14th. While Chevrolet was sure to maintain all of the dependable features that customers want on their Chevy truck, they decided it was time to give consumers a new "custom, right from the factory" look.

When we say that Chevrolet is taking black to the next level with the 2015 Silverado Midnight Edition, we really mean it. We're talking black on black on black. The Silverado Midnight Edition has a blacked out front end with a body-colored grille, bumper, headlamp bezels, tow hooks, and fog lamps. The side moldings and beltline moldings - black. Alloy wheels with Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac all-terrain tires - black. A spray-in bedliner AND the iconic Chevrolet bow tie - yes you guessed it, both black.

The 2015 Silverado Midnight Edition includes some driver-friendly features that Chevy customers have come to love. This includes things like rear park assist, heated, power-adjusted outside rear-view mirrors, off-road suspension, Hill Descent Control, a locking rear differential, and even a trailering package. Dealers will be able to start ordering this blacked out model in February 2015.

Avoid Rear Crashes with Chevrolet's Forward Collision Alert

ST. LOUIS, Miss. - You know those drivers who zip from lane to lane, tailgating every vehicle that stands in their way? Yes, we're looking at you. Well according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, those eager folks are responsible for the one in four rear-end collisions that are reported to police each year. Fortunately for all of us, Chevrolet was quick to create a solution to improve driver awareness and safety.

Drivers can avoid rear crashes with Chevrolet's Forward Collision Alert, a technology that will notify the driver if they are following another vehicle too closely or if they are seconds away from a crash. Forward Collision Alert is currently available on select 2015 Chevy models, including the Traverse, Equinox, and Silverado. Some models are even equipped with a Front Automatic Braking technology that is able to automatically slow or stop the vehicle under certain circumstances, like if the driver does not respond to an alert.

Avoid Rear Crashes with Chevrolet's Forward Collision AlertDepending on your Chevy model, the Forward Collision Alert will be installed in one of two places. The system will use a radar located in the front grille area OR it will have a camera mounted behind the windshield in front of the inside rearview mirror. Regardless of the way it is installed, drivers will be able to avoid rear crashes with Chevrolet's Forward Collision Alert. Here's how the technology works; once the system is activated, a green icon will appear when a vehicle is detected ahead. The icon will change to amber when the driver is getting too close to the vehicle, then will immediately turn to a red "Collision Alert" with rapid, high-pitched beeps if the driver is approaching the vehicle too quickly.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, forward collision technology can help to prevent up to 879 fatal crashes each year! However we do have to remember, Chevy's Forward Collision Alert is a technology that was developed to enhance, not replace, driver awareness!

The Chevrolet Bolt EV Concept Vehicle

The Chevrolet Bolt Concept Vehicle
ST. LOUIS, Miss. - On day one of the 2015 North American International Auto Show, Chevrolet shared their vision for the not-too-distant-future. That vision call also be called the Chevrolet Bolt EV concept vehicle - an affordable, long-range all-electric vehicle designed to offer more than 200 miles of range with a starting price of $30,000.

This game-changing, fast-charging, all-electric concept vehicle still has some hoops to jump through, but we are certain that Chevrolet's "vision" will become a reality sooner rather than later. The Bolt EV concept capitalizes on the electrification prowess that has been established by the Chevy Volt and Spark EV. This particular vehicle is designed to offer a long-range performance to customers in the U.S. and other global markets.

The Chevrolet Bolt EV concept vehicle features various lightweight materials like aluminum, magnesium, carbon fiber, and woven mesh to keep its curb weight down to maximize range. The Bolt EV has unique proportions -have practically no front or rear overhang- that help to provide an airy and roomy cabin for four passengers. The interior environment is also amplified with the use of glass all around and a full-length, frosted-glass roof.

The Chevrolet Bolt Concept Vehicle

Of course, Chevrolet hasn't forgotten about all of that technology and stuff. The Bolt EV featured an app that implements several unique performance elements. The app is designed to allow a smartphone to act as the key fob and allows for ride-sharing management, including restorations, vehicle location, and even payment processing. It also in corporates the automatic park-and-retrieval technology, which allows the driver to exit the vehicle and the Bolt EV will park itself and then return upon the owner's request.

Sneak Peak of 2016 Chevrolet Volt at 2015 CES

Sneak Peak of 2016 Chevrolet Volt at 2015 CES
ST. LOUIS, Miss. - At an event on the eve of the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, Chevrolet presented attendees with a very special treat. Although a good portion was still kept under wraps, Chevy gave everyone an exciting sneak peak of the 2016 Chevrolet Volt!

Chevrolet definitely knows how to keep consumers wanting more. This week the automaker gave the public a sneak peak of the 2016 Chevrolet Volt at the 2015 CES; one week before its official debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. From what we've heard and can tell from the available photos, the all-new 2016 Chevy Volt is looking real good!

The one minute introduction exposed the front of the 2016 Volt, which is now rocking a futuristic and angular front fascia. Chevy said goodbye to the Volt's symmetrical dual-port grille and replaced it with a more bias lower fascia. The 2016 Chevrolet Volt also appears to have new LED daylamps on the lower fascia. Unfortunately, the rear of the vehicle remained hidden behind the curtain, forcing us all to wait another week in suspense!

Of course, we have to touch on one of the Volt's most important features - battery range capability. The 2016 Chevy Volt's battery range is expected to improve roughly 5 to 12 percent depending on temperature and driving habits. The biggest cut that Chevrolet consumers will notice is the Volt's price! While no exact pricing has been released, we do know that the all-new Volt is expected to ring in below the $30,000 mark!

The 2015 NAIAS is just days away! You can count on your Chevrolet Dealership serving West End, MO to give you the latest details about Chevy's up and coming vehicle lineup. Don Brown Chevrolet is located at 2244 S.
